Requirements and Standards for Online Professional Development Products
Listed below are the requirements and standards that are used by the NEA Academy Content and Quality Review Board in evaluating all professional development products for placement on the NEA Academy:
Requirements
- Evidence of linkage to state renewal/licensure requirements
- Content aligns with NEA policy
- Supports ease of access for all learners, including those with disabilities
- Provisions for those with special learning needs are based on the ADA requirements
Content for Classroom Based Programs
- Appropriate, clear goals and; objectives defined
- Program meets stated goals and identified objectives
- Aligned with national standards for content areas
- Expands content knowledge for targeted audience identified
- Expands content specific pedagogy for target audience identified
- Content is research based with research identified
- Chunking and scaffolding are appropriate for the content
- Incorporates quality supplemental resources
- Inclusive and appropriate for all cultural groups
Non-Classroom Based and/or Educational Support Professional Programs
- Appropriate, clear goals and objectives defined
- Program meets stated goals and identified objectives
- Expands content knowledge for targeted audience identified
- Expands job specific skills for targeted audience identified
- Content is research based with research identified
- Chunking and scaffolding are appropriate for the content
- Incorporates quality supplemental materials
- Inclusive and appropriate for all cultural groups
- Appropriate for ESP job category identified

- Easy to read and understand
